Cheese of the Month

Cheese of the Month

Our Cheese of the Month this December is Wigmore.

We're celebrating its wonderful showing at the World Cheese Awards last month, where it won a Super Gold award, was named one of the best 16 cheeses in the world and was the UK's top sheep's cheese.

A lovely soft delicate cheese with a subtle creamy flavour. It's been made by Anne Wigmore for almost 30 years in Bedfordshire, after being developed alongside Neal's Yard, who were keen to add a soft sheep cheese to their range.
It's a favoured cheese of Fergus Henderson of St John's restaurant. He makes a Wigmore and potato pie using an entire Wigmore cheese and has even said that Wigmore and raisin bread would be the cheese course of his last supper...

To quote the man himself: "Wigmore cheese has a magical ability to restore the pleasure of a wine that's lost its lustre after a few glasses."

We're adding this to December Real Cheese Club. Each month we pick three delicious British farmhouse cheeses. Our monthly subscription delivers a new curated selection of regional favourites at their peak - from crumbly clothbound cheddars to earthy blue cheeses.

Whether hosting guests or looking for the ultimate cheeseboard for yourself, let us provide a hand-selected trio of complementary cheeses. There'll be something for everyone - from fresh and grassy to sharp and bold to rich and creamy.
