We often get asked why our shops always have eggs when so many places are experiencing shortages.
We get our free-range organic eggs from Barradale, who work closely with a small number of farms. They pay a fair price for eggs and only supply a select number of shops. They've had to put up prices this year, but all their farms have survived and continue to provide uninterrupted supply.
Meanwhile 20% of egg farms have gone out of business this year - due to rising costs and supermarkets refusing to pay them more for their eggs. Coupled with a 17% rise in demand for eggs this has left a huge dent in supermarket supply.
So the solution is simple - work closely with your suppliers, pay them a fair price and everyone wins!
