What's in season - July

Lots in season especially soft fruits like apricots, blueberries, cherries, gooseberries, greengages, melons, peaches and strawberries.

Now more than ever is a good time to be buying organic. Thin-skinned fruit are particularly prone to absorbing pesticides.

Every year the Environmental Working Group publish their "Dirty Dozen" - the 12 types of fruit and veg that are most likely to contain pesticide residue. For the 8th year in a row Strawberries topped the list so it's well worth stumping up the extra for organic to avoid getting any nasties.

Here's the full list if you're interested:

1. Strawberries
2. Spinach
3. Kale and Spring Greens
4. Peaches
5. Pears
6. Nectarines
7. Apples
8. Grapes
