There's lots in season right now including artichoke, aubergine, beetroot, broccoli, carrots, courgettes, fennel, lettuce & salad leaves, mangetout, new potatoes, spinach and spring onions. But most excitingly, the arrival of the summer means it's time for wonderful heirloom tomatoes from the Isle Of Wight.
We get our organic English tomatoes from the Tomato Stall, who have been growing tomatoes for 15 years, making the most of the sunniest part of the UK. They grow over 40 varieties including Kumato, Green Tiger and Golden Vine.
They also operate a zero waste policy, turning any ugly or squashy fruit into chutneys, passata and curry sauces. Meanwhile all their tomato plants are turned into compost to nourish the next year's harvest.
They're bursting with flavour so there's no need to do much with them. Salt, pepper and your best olive oil is all they'll need to sing. If you feel like going to a little more effort, why not a super easy puff pastry tart with ricotta and plenty of basil.
